The Masakhane [Autonomy] project has been part of CAL’s feminist movement building work for almost a decade. The collaborative efforts between CAL and 6 Collectives in Southern Africa-Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Grounded in principles of bodily autonomy, Masakhane was aimed at promoting human rights in Southern Africa by strengthening women-led  & centered NGOs and activists- with a focus on women’s rights and SOGIE rights. In light of the above, it is important for us to reflect and capture the work that unfolded for almost a decade.
